Kate Weston is an impressive, intelligent and charismatic broadcaster with an infectious personality and a wealth of experience.
Her first major break into television arrived when she was chosen to host GMTV’s Saturday morning children’s series Rise & Shine. This led to a string of programmes including the wacky gameshow Games Republic, the European Drag Racing Championships for Sky Sports and Channel 5 (a job that took her to Europe, engaging in one of the world’s fastest and most exciting sports), and, most recently, Wedding Breakfast, the flagship magazine show on Wedding TV.
Kate was voted one of the sexiest girls in radio by FHM, which didn’t go unnoticed by BFBS listeners when she broadcast to British Forces stationed around the world. You can currently hear her each weekday on Wave 105, where her successful partnership with Andy Jackson has led to one of the most listened to drive time radio shows in the UK.
Originally from Somerset, Kate started her career as a singer with lead roles in several theatre productions and residencies at the Casino de Monte Carlo, Monaco and the Hilton, Park Lane, London. She was also lead singer with the Tony Evans Orchestra, one of the country’s leading twenty-two piece big bands.
Her television career was born out of her experience in talking to live audiences, of all kinds, and the ease with which she conducted herself. She also has a tremendous capacity to absorb detailed scripts and information speedily.
In addition to her presenting work, Kate is in demand as a voiceover artist and is currently the voice of NHS Direct.
A love of history and genealogy fills any spare time, and she is also assistant director of a performing arts academy for young people in North London.
