A true 'Lancashire lass', Ranvir Singh has spent all of her professional career with the BBC.
As of September 2007, Ranvir shares the presentation of BBC North West Tonight with Gordon Burns. It's live TV - every weeknight - a buzz she thrives off. She's also a regular on the late night bulletin.
Born in Preston and educated at Lancaster University, where she studied English and philosophy, Ranvir returned to Preston to complete a postgraduate qualification in journalism.
She began her broadcasting career at BBC Radio Lancashire, after being offered a six-month contract while still on work experience. She then moved on to BBC Radio Manchester where she presented the breakfast programme throughout the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Ranvir moved on to television, playing a key role in presenting the nationally-broadcast Manchester Passion on Good Friday, 2006. She has also reported from Jack Straw's constituency for the Dimbleby Special Election broadcasts.
Ranvir is also very much in demand for hosting conferences and awards ceremonies
Outside of the newsroom, Ranvir enjoys dancing and shopping... in New York!
