Tim has emerged from the not inconsiderable shadow of his broadcaster father Bill to establish himself as one of the country's leading and most versatile presenters.

At 17 he joined Piccadilly Radio in Manchester as a coffee boy, fourteen years later he was the station's Breakfast Show Presenter and Programme Controller. His next move was to television and a three line letter to the head of broadcasting secured him the role as co- presenter of BBC 1 's Pebble Mill live lunch chat show. Ask him nicely and he'll tell you what the letter said !

During the following three years he split his time between the live daytime shows People Today, and Showbiz People (BBC 1) the Sunday live magazine show See You Sunday (BBC Wales) and the live Friday night debate programme The Forum (Border TV) However radio never left Tim's heart. Tim presenter the much praised Radio 2 Arts Programme, wrote and presented Four Corners, a weekly travel show on Radio 4 and pitched for and won a four year contract to Produce, write and present the ground breaking Other Side Of Midnight for BBC Radio Five Live.

At the same time Tim launched a brand new avenue in his career by creating the award winning series Two's Country for the Discovery Channel. Setting himself up as the "Historian with attitude", the programme which tackles world history with comedy, became Discovery's top rated show within four episodes. Five years and over two hundred episodes later it still is Discovery's highest rated show! The series also took the top prize in the Indies Awards winning Best Satellite and Cable Programme.

Channel 4 soon commissioned some of Tim's ideas such as the history series Travelling Light, and What's In A Word, explaining the English language. His latest venture for Channel 4 is the enormously popular daily series based around stately homes Great Estates a firm favourite amongst TV critics and highest rated daytime show.

Add to that Show People, a year long project for BBC UK STYLE, appearing in dramas for HTV and Central Films, a qualified journalist, fan of all sport, the countryside, music and films, Chair of a major children's charity and father of two, you will understand why he's a very busy boy indeed!
